Suit Separates Style Advice

How to Get a Great Looking Men's Suit

Every man needs a good looking, high-quality business suit!

Whether for business or for special occasions, you want to feel comfortable and look first-rate in your suit.

The right suit should flatter your physique and harmonize with your coloration, while helping you to establish credibility. A good quality, well-fitted suit is an investment that will help you to be successful and achieve your monetary and career goals. Choose your suit wisely, and you will look the part and stand out in the crowd. Here are some tips for choosing the right men’s suit for you.

  • Invest in the Best Quality Fabric

The finer the fabric quality, the better your suit will look, tailor and feel. A high-quality Worsted Wool suit is a wise choice because it is durable, will last for years, drapes well and is naturally wrinkle resistant and comfortable.

  • Choose a Color that Flatters Your Complexion

Everyone has his or her unique personal coloration. Choose colors that flatter your complexion, hair color, eye color and skin tone. Darker shades of charcoal and navy are a great way to market yourself for job interviews, also for business meetings and situations where you want to establish yourself as confident, in control and credible. Medium to lighter color suits like olive, tan and taupe have a softer persona, and are optimal choices for situations when you want your aura to be open, friendly and forthcoming.

  • Be Detail Oriented

The difference between a high-quality suit and a cheap-looking one is in the details.

Cheap plastic buttons, suits that don’t hold their shape, loose threads and puckering are all tell-tale signs of poor quality.

When you purchase a suit, you should check out the stitching. There should be 20 stitches per inch and no puckering! The suit coat must be fully lined and the suit pants should be lined to the knee.  Test it for wrinkling by twisting the arm and releasing it. Look to see whether or not it wrinkled.

  • It Just Ain’t Fitting!

If the suit fits… wear it! There is something to be said for this ancient cliché.

  • Choose the Style

The most current and most appropriate style today is the classic two-button suit coat/jacket, accompanied by pleated or flat front pants. It is important to keep up with the current trends to avoid looking like yesterday’s newspaper. This doesn’t mean you should “set the trend”…. just look like you’re in keeping with the times.
